Colours

The Thai Ridgeback Dog (TRD) comes in four solid colors SISAWAT or BLUE.

These dogs were first bred in the mid 1950's. The first few generations, of these dogs had long blackish-gray hair, ranging in colour to molten silver. Later on, they were mated with dogs from Trad and Chantaburi provinces and the hairless "Thai Boran Dogs" which gave the BLUE TRD it super short coats of today.

The most often seen ridges in this color are the panom, lute, and arrow ridges SIDANG or RED and SUPER RED. These are the original domesticated dogs from Eastern provinces, such as Trad, Chantaburi and Rayong. There coat was medium in length. Then the REDS were developed into Ridgeback dogs with a short, fine velvet coat. The bloodlines in this color, are more stable than any other bloodlines. They will give red puppies with larger and wider ridges. They are at present very popular and their coat colours range from a light reddish-fawn to a deep dark SUPER RED, SIDUM or BLACK. Black is thee most dominant base color in the TRD breed.

The color should be completely black, which makes the coat appear glossy and healthy. Their skin should be a dark blue/black colour, nose, tongues, flews, and nails should also be black. SIBUA/KLEEBUA or FAWN These are like the BLUES...are hybrids from the RED TRD. This family includes yellow color, golden color, pink colour and re-fawn color.
