Thai Ridgeback Dog

The Thai Ridgeback (TRD) is an old race which is already mentioned in about 350 year-old archaeological documents of Thailand. These dogs were used in the eastern part of Thailand, above all, to the hunt. In addition, they served the people as a companion of her carts and as watchdogs.

The race remained about long years in the old state, because in the east of Thailand the transport possibilities are underdeveloped. Thus there was hardly opportunity to cross this race with other races.

GENERAL APPEARANCE: Medium-sized dog with the short hair which forms the back along a "ridge" (comb). His body length excels something the withers height. The musculature is well developed; his build allows every activity to him.

This breed was standardised by FCI in 1975.
